What is Childhood and Social Institutions at King’s?

I know people who go to teachers college, I know people who go into social work, law, so really, Childhood and Social Institutions is a good starting point for pretty much anything that you would want
to do working with children. What our program offers is different – it’s a study of institutions. We spend a lot of time in the program dealing with public policy,
advocating for childrens’ participation in institutions. For me, what’s at the heart of this program – Childhood and Social Institutions – is the sense that we can somehow
make the world better for children. So I see it very much as a
social justice approach to childhood. It actually makes you think about the world completely differently in how we should be questioning more things. We should start doing things maybe a litle bit differently and actually including children, and including children’s
voices in everything we do!
