Transfer students at ASU | Arizona State University
Hi. My name is Ashai Thomas. My name is Andrea Urquidez. Cissimarie Juan. Ty Allen. Kimberly Redding. I am transfer student from Mesa Community College, and I’m now at ASU — Arizona State University. I actually attended a site visit here at ASU with one of my classes and just became in love with the atmosphere, with the American Indian Studies program, and decided that this was the place for me. ASU just offers that broad spectrum of anything you want to do. I ended up getting academic scholarships, which blew me away so much that I thought, if they’re going to pay for a bachelor’s, I’m going to go for my PhD. I picked ASU because I knew about a lot of the resources that ASU offered that was very equivalent to my major choice that I wanted to do with my life. The professors here, they really go above and beyond. Oh my gosh, the professors are all so awesome. They just want you to succeed. My instructors, they’re amazing. The amount of knowledge that they have and are huge resources even outside of the classroom. I’m an undergrad, but I’m also in research, and that’s normally stuff that you do as a grad student so not a lot of students get the opportunity to do hands-on, like, undergrad research. When you do graduate and you go out into the field, you have something to give to an employer that maybe somebody else doesn’t. I actually really love the vibe here. Everyone’s so nice. People come from all over the world here. Very diverse. I encourage you to give it a shot, and to come to the campus, to meet the students and to meet the staff. It will definitely … you’ll feel that sense of community, and that’s what brought me to ASU. Those days where it’s a little bit harder than others, but that’s pretty much my driving force. It will be worth it, you know. I will … I will get this degree one way or the other and you know, my life will change. They’re going to allow me to create my own degree. Oh my gosh! Why wouldn’t you come here? Go ASU!
