Creative Minds Early Learning Center

I had nine years working as a director under
my belt when I went forward to start looking for my own child care. And when we found this building it’s the
perfect combination because I said it has a big back yard, it has trees. I’m Abbi Carlton and I’m the director
and owner of Creative Minds Early Learning Center. We are a waldorf inspired school so our education
is set up to be a hands on learning environment. And I chose the waldorf emphasis because it
puts a great deal of emphasis on the bond between the teachers the children and the
parents. Region Nine helped us with the purchase of
all the cribs, the purchase of the material and toys in the class room, shelving. We
needed a larger refrigerator. There is just a lot of little things you need in the classroom
to meet your licensing requirements. And that funding that Region Nine gave us
helped us to purchase those items to ensure that we meet our license and guidelines. The number of parents and the number of children
needing to be cared for is greater than the number of options available. And so it was nice to be able to talk to a
board of people that really understood what my goal was and why it’s so necessary in
our community. Not everyone quite understands what young
parents are going through and Mankato has such a high that’s our highest growing population
is the young families.
