Bobby’s Story: Bobby the Builder

Bobby’s Story: Bobby the Builder

– [Bobby] I like hearing
everybody’s stories. Everybody has a different
story, and I just like asking questions. (Blues style music) (acoustic music) If I have some spare
time at we’re the house, I enjoy woodworking. I just enjoy building things.
it’s fun, it’s relaxing. I saw Macy the first day on campus when we were in chapel, then we got married, in May of 2016, and we’ve got a black Lab. The first year that I was here, I was super involved with Habitat. We sponsored one of our local builds. We started from the ground
up, and we poured the slab, we put down the framing. I was up in a harness with
a nail gun, up on the roof. Ultimately, on the last day
when we presented the home to the home owners, we were able to give that family the keys to their house. It’s an honor, an honor, a privilege
to serve our members. You just get to talk to them,
you get to hear their story, you get to dream with them. Over the years I’ve had some
really good planning that I’ve done with my parents, actually. We’ve been through a tough
time this year, with some of the things that have been
going on with my mom and some of the battles
she’s had with cancer. She was about half way through
chemo, we were kind of just talking about,
what she was worried about or what she was anxious about. She said, “The one thing
that I am not worried about is anything financial.” She said, We know that we’re
taken care of, whether I make it through this or I don’t, and everything’s going to be
OK because we’ve done this planning.” I knew what
I did was important, but it gets really important
when it’s your family. We do that for hundreds of
families and households, not just our own.
